Using User Limits
User limits is a way of configuring limits with email alert functionality. To do this either access it via the Eigen cog or right click directly on a tag with in a macro.
Here you can create limits on tags or calculations.
Step 1 - Define the Limit
- To create an alert you first need to define the tag or calculation.
- Name the limit/alert
If you create the limit by right clicking from a KPI, Chart or Search macro then the the tag or calculation will be pre filled in the tag name box. |
Step 2 - Maximum or Minimum
- Define weather the limit is a maximum or minimum
- Use the drop down menu to configure
Step 3 - Threshold
- Set a threshold that will trigger the alert when its broken
Step 4 - Recovery Threshold
- set a recovery threshold which resets the alert back to normal when when the value returns below it
If your setting an alert on a value that jumps up and down quite a lot you need to take this into account. If the threshold is say 3 and a recovery threshold of 2 and you value is going from 3 then 2 rapidly its going to send a lot of alerts as the alarm is bing triggered then reset and triggered again. Make sure the gap between your threshold and recovery threshold is large enough that you don't get multiple alerts for the same problem |
Step 5 - Notify
Tick notify if you want to email the alert to the given email address
